Withhold from team winnings.
Withhold from team winnings.
There’s plenty of time to build up someone else. Plenty.
I’d be a more excited to vote for Josh Shapiro or Michelle Obama or Gretchen Whitmer or Gavin Newsom or some other good candidate, but I’d vote for Joe Biden any day of the week.
Republicans have learned that there are millions of votes on one particular issue that will allow them to do whatever on all other issues. Abortion.
Republicans like this right now because it benefits Donald. It’s going to come back and bite them in the ass when it helps their opponents.
Yes, it’s the same family members who refused to do their part by getting vaccinated and were convinced that the rest of us would be dead by now from the “government poison vaccine.”
I’ll vote for Biden for his admin’s policies. I have zero in common with Trump and Republican policies. But I’d be much more excited to vote for Gretchen Whitmer or Gavin Newsom or Michelle Obama or Josh Shapiro.
Next year at SCOTUS: “Just kidding about the states’ rights we talked about.”
Wonder why…hmmm…
Maybe there’s a reason why Americabad is such a common take? Just something to think about…
Trump controls a cult, that’s why.
Cult leaders can get their followers to do anything and the followers will forgive the leader for anything, including felonies. They will dismiss any criticism of the leader as lies or made up to hurt the leader politically. No matter how true the criticism might be.
At the end of the day, it’s very much like the relationship between religious worshippers and their god.
As an American who is absolutely horrified and embarrassed about our own political climate and voter behavior, it’s very good to see a sane and dull transfer of power.
Sunak’s speech after stepping down:
Whilst he has been my political opponent, Keir Starmer, will shortly become our prime minister. In this job, his successes will be all our successes, and I wish him and his family well. Whatever our disagreements in this campaign, He is a decent, public spirited man who I respect.
He and his family deserve the very best of our understanding as they make the huge transition to their new lives behind this door. And as he grapples with this most demanding of jobs in an increasingly unstable world.
You’re splitting hairs. Fact of the matter is that Europe is doing a much better job at making higher education available to all.
In Europe the rich also pay for additional education to maximise their offsprings merits. Maybe not to the same degree, but it is there.
Maybe in a few countries like the UK, but expensive private education is not common in continental Europe. The best public universities are tuition free and provide some of the best education in the world. Rich and poor side by side in the auditorium.
Yeah. That’s why we can’t have nice things. The US should consider extended warranty rules similar to the EU. But that’s probably too “socialist” or whatever.
More education generally means richer.
Very US-centric take. College education should be part of the general public education system like it is in Europe. It should not be connected to a person’s net worth. In Europe, you go to college based on merits, not wealth.
I also think it’s a very questionable conclusion to say that the more educated people are, the more they vote Republican. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. Hence, Republicans have incentive to keep people as dumb as possible.
I often hear conservative family members complain about the public school system and calling for it to be dismantled. To them, the public school system is the reason for every evil the US faces, both on economic issues and social issues. They all listen to a lot of conservative talk radio and happily mix bible quotes and Rush Limbaugh quotes into the same sentence.
While consumer laws in the US generally suck, there are a few stores that have amazing return policies and go out of their way to please customers, Costco being one of them.
I know a guy who brought back his 10-year-old broken plasma flatscreen TV without a receipt. They replaced it with a new model, no questions asked.
There’s literally nothing Donald Trump could do that would make his worshipping voters change their minds about him. They believe anything critical of him is a lie and made up to hurt him politically. I can’t believe how dumb the electorate has become. Must be a general lack of education.
Trump has got to be among the biggest narcissists alive.
Given the fact that a large part of the American population is dumber than a bag of rocks, probably not much. But there’s plenty of time to teach.
Then again, I don’t think it makes much of a difference. People made up their minds on Biden vs Trump a long time ago and they are in their trenches. The US is truly in a sad state, and it’s quite embarrassing when I talk to family members and friends overseas.
