I used to like Ubuntu, but I got so sick for not being able to do things due to packages being out of date, and/or snaps getting in the way.
I ditched it for arch and I’m so much happier

If CanCon gave more visibility to ALL Canadian artists, sure. The way it is on the radio, it seems that you don’t have to be a good Canadian band, you just have to be a Canadian artist.
Worst part was, it was all really civil I thought. Like, “Hey, this sounds like X but it might be Y”
Turns out the dude was a piece of shit, but still… While I consider myself pretty left leaning, I also like to make sure I’ve got my fingers pointing in the right direction. Call the piece of shit out for cases where they are without a doubt being a piece of shit. Not for areas where there some room for personal interpretation.
But according to some mods, we should just blast people over anything regardless of verifiability. And trying to further explain the dangers of enforcing nonsense like they’re doing is apparently considered harassment.
Their approach:
Me: Appalling the ban, stating the nuance of the post.
Mods: “No, don’t contact us again.”
Me: Huh? But this, though…
Mods: “No, contact us again and we’ll report you for harassment”
Me: I’m all for pointing fingers, but this is dangerous…
“We’re muting you now, and also reporting you for harassment”
Reddit admins: “How dare you harass the mods with civil conversation! 7 day ban!”
Me: Appealing Reddit ban, stating the only harassment thus far has been from the mods. Show me where I was harassing.
Human admin: Nope, harassment. Ban staying.
Meanwhile, conspiracy, conservative, and canada subreddits continue to exist no prob…
Reddit can’t die soon enough. It’s clear that the site is compromised big time.
It’s cool you can call stuff out on here. I tried that on Reddit and got banned. Then called out the mods and got banned from the site for harassment 🤷♂️
Reddit can’t die off fast enough. It’s clearly past its prime
Oh no… So anyways lol
What do you expect from a conservative government? This cuts into oil consumption and green alternatives. Can’t have that!
They should try lowering prices and paying their workers better. I suspect that would drive down violence far more than cameras.
But this probably has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with employee surveillance with a pinch of voyeurism.
The motion contains absolutely nothing
Right, so on par with literally every mouth noise PP has ever made
I would rather see improved tax brackets to get money back into the economy by forcing the rich to either pay more in taxes, or steal less from the employees thus paying them a fair share (which in turn will actually be spent and fed back into the economy)
It’s funny how the party of “taxes bad” somehow also like a balanced budget.
How the fuck are you gonna balance it when you choke out cash flows and things cost more annually? 🤔
They nailed the retro-futurism aesthetic with that window UI
I can’t stand people who use Discord as a support platform… Absolutely nothing comes up in internet searches, and then you have to try to find an old discussion, or ask the same question as 50 other people. It’s dumb.
This implies that the company has a competent IT team that rolls it out correctly, and that there won’t be some way to exploit it and dig in further than expected.
Also:
On personal devices, it’s normal and expected for users to check email, join meetings, update files, and more. Many organizations allow personal devices to access organization resources.
(From the site)
Lmao WHAT? It’s normal for users to do company shit on their personal phone? What kind of delusional Spongebob bullshit is that? Is the company gonna pay for data or subsidize the cost of my phone? Are they going to pay me to be on call if they expect me to of this shit outside of my working hours?
Especially when the “hybrid” model involves more days in office than at home.
I guess execs don’t work when they’re at home and can’t handle not getting distracted, so they just assume the same for everyone.
It’s still greed. They want to justify the mobey they’ve wasted in useless office spaces.
Intune installs as a device adminstration. I’m not sure how much I’d trust that on my personal device period.
Yup same. It’s crazy how many people willing installed Intune and shit on their personal phone. If my company wants me to have that level of portability, then they’ll be buying a work phone for me and paying me overtime any time I’m forced to use it out of regular hours
Yup, my work pulled the same Bullshit. I can work from home and we all worked from home through COVID… But now suddenly I can’t
So, there’s been a few times where the power’s gone out or something has happened that needs us at a remote location. They send the team home. The rest of the guys willingly go. I stay back and remind them that “gee, sorry. You guys have made it abundantly clear that I can’t work from home. All those times I had to take personal time… So yeah, no. I’ll just hang out here I guess until everything comes back up 🤷♂️”
I still poke around on there now and again, but not as much as I used to. The day they kill 3rd party apps and the old site will be the day I completely stop using it - namely because neither their app nor their redesigns are actually useable. I have no idea how people tolerate them - they are absolutely garbage. Their latest trick is adding a bunch of metadata crap in their search links completely breaking most 3rd party apps still kicking.
Next time you see a /s/ in a URL, just watch how much it expands when you visit it 🤢
I’ll have to check that Alan Cross podcast out. I used to love his History of New Music shows on the radio. I never really got into the podcast thing, but I could see myself getting into one if it was hosted by him
