One study found that “the listener’s familiarity with the topic of discourse greatly facilitates the interpretation of the entire message” (Gass and Varonis 85).
I could see this being useful. Not everyone who uses a wheel chair is paralyzed. Some have balance issues, or limited strength. Dividing the effort between arms and legs could give increased independence and it would be more ergonomic than scooting with the feet like a lot of people end up doing in wheel chairs.
Sure, it’s not super different from a recumbent bike (and seems to lack a steering mechanism) but if the pedals could be folded out of the way it could be easier for a person with mobility issues to get in and out of.
I doubt that will matter to the people who want it to be true. Honestly I feel so sad looking at this kid. Maybe I’m just old, but his high school yearbook pic looks like an elementary schooler to me. He looks so happy in his graduation video. As his father said: “What the hell happened?” I do wonder what will come to light when the discord is accessed.
“You are bad at hunting. Here. I will help. You don’t even have to go outside!”
Article says he was registered republican, but donated $15 to a grassroots democratic group shortly after the capitol riot, so… there you go.
Computer! Butter! Room temp!
PB&J is like, one of the cheapest meals you can make, right? What if it WASN’T?
Have you checked for mice nesting in the ceiling there?
Oh, right! I heard that the book version has an illustration on the inside front cover that totally spoils. How stupid.
Seconding the Discworld series, but specifying that while the Random House Audio version narrated by Nigel Planer is excellent- The newer version by Penguin Audio with Peter Serafinowicz, Bill Nighy and either Indira Varma or Collin Morgan are absolutely top shelf.
I was put off before I started them because I assumed it was the “Narrated by a full cast” type of thing which is usually terrible. This is one main narrator (either Collin or Indira if it’s a wizard or witch heavy book, respectively) and then a new voice for the “author’s asides” that makes you feel like Sir Terry Pratchett is telling you little secrets himself and then one special character gets their own voice actor who is just perfect and adds even greater depth to the magic of these books.
Bobiverse is also fantastic.
AND The audio version of Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir gets a little extra something by being an audio version. If you haven’t read that I recommend going in completely blind with no spoilers at all if possible, don’t read a single thing about it first.
(Edit: just saw that Chainweasel just edited to also add Project Hail Mary… maybe we should be in a book club together, lol. )
Edit 2: The Children of Memory series by Adrian Tchaikovsky is a very special one that has stayed with me and I still get misty thinking about it. Just wonderful.
I’m sure this six minute old account is acting purely in good faith.
Also- I’m very curious how a post about all apps being dating apps managed to be racist.
Also- how is my calculator app going to find me a date?

I make “chicken jello” for the cats on a weekly basis. It’s their favorite.
Yes! And also here! [email protected]
Ha. Sorry. For beginners using unflavored gelatin I would recommend the Knox brand packets that are sold next to the regular Jello boxes. They are highly refined and don’t have any um… surprising smells… ? The big 2lb jars of unflavored supplement gelatin can be a bit strong when you first add boiling water, but it goes away entirely once it is set in the fridge or dissolved in tea. I could see that putting someone entirely off jello if they were already iffy.
My very favorite is mulberry juice jello, but the only place that sold mulberry juice near me stopped carrying it a couple years back. It’s on amazon, but I can’t bring myself to buy juice on amazon. Tart cherry is a good sub. https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Juice-Black-Mulberry-Organic/dp/B00J49VLMO/
I’m a small breasted woman who does not wear a bra. The reasons of practicality and comfort are described below for bigger chested people (I didn’t see mentioned that if they are really big and you try to run without serious, sometimes two sports bras on they can fly up and hit you in the face). I do sometimes accidentally hit my nipple on something, which I don’t like.
But in my experience, people get upset at seeing boob shaped boobs. Strangers tell me I should be wearing a bra. They want bra shaped boobs. Nipples are scary.
I haven’t worn one since middle school when it was new and fun and made me feel “grown up” (but uncomfortable). But some years back I got shingles and apparently permanent nerve damage on the nerve group that would be right under the bra band on my back and anything irritating it makes me feel like I’m on fire so it’s just not going to happen. Certainly not in the name of sparing the general public the scandal of seeing boob shaped boobs in a loose T shirt. At the very most I will use silicone tape to hide my nipples in very formal situations.
